Confused about dog nutrition?

Are you struggling to find the perfect dog food for your canine companion?

Well, you’re not alone. Perhaps that’s a relief already.

About 900 dog owners in the US were surveyed by Just Right by Purina and PSB Research in september 2015. Here a summary of what they found:

Dog owners find their dog’s nutrition more confusing than their own. As a consequence they spend a lot of time thinking about it and feeling indecisive at the dog food aisle. Then when they finally select a dog food, about 70% of dog owners feel it mostly fits their dog’s needs but it’s not the perfect fit. You can read more at Petfood Industry.com.

Dog owners find their dog’s nutrition more confusing than their own. As a consequence they spend a lot of time thinking about is and feeling indecisive and overwhelmed at the dog food aisle. Then when they finally select a dog food, about 70% of dog owners feel it mostly fits their dog’s needs but it’s not the perfect fit.

Now what could be the difficulty here?

  • There is just too much to choose from.
  • Marketing messages printed on the front of the bag are confusing and perhaps even misleading.
  • Dog owners don’t know how to read the back label on the bag.

What’s good about this is that apparently a lot of dog owners don’t choose a dog food brand in a split second. In fact, they seem to spend an average of 10 minutes at the dog food aisle pondering about which food is best.

We need more real information. We don’t need more marketing.
